Around 2016, an interest in occult, magic and sorcery arose. I wanted to turn this new obsession into a new Dr. No project that you now know as Sorcière.
This time my muse and inspiration was not a collaboration, but a subject, actually subjects.
It started with obsessively consuming information, hidden information as Occult’s definition loud. A rabbit hole to dive into where a new world opened up for me.
After frantically consuming the knowledge from the world of occultism, I set to work with a chest full of inspiration.
I soon came to the conclusion that this was too complex and too versatile a subject to cover in one object or creation.
I picked up a skull that I began to work without direct vision to create the occult feeling. While working on this skull, which I soon came to call Sorcière, loose parts and subjects came up, which I started to work out. The now heavily worked Sorcière skull I have placed next to me as a new muse to be inspired to make and release the following parts that you now know as the Necrofuzzicon, DJINN and DYBBUK.
Recently I brought out my used muse, the Sorcière skull, my totem, when I finished creating the three parts mentioned above. I wanted to implement and realize my now further developed vision of what SORCIÈRE should actually look like.
Rarely do I take the time to fully flesh out initial ideas because they often serve as rough sketches to eventually come up with a Dr. No effect.
Simultaneously, the idea arose to create an overview of all prototypes, never released but fully developed projects and one-offs that have been kept in an archive collection over the past 20 years. This will be a digital mini museum called Dr. No’s Cabinet of Curiosities. Hopefully to visit soon at www.drno-effects.com
The now totally out of control project of the development of the SORCIÈRE Totem, which is only one example, is approaching its end after 4 years of working on this unique object.
SORCIERE Totem contains all SORCIERE parts. The Necrofuzzicon, DJINN and Dybbuk. I have built these into the SORCIÈRE Totem in chronological order. The SORCIÈRE Totem can also be stored and displayed in the altar that belongs to it.
The SORCIERE Totem will be available to one lucky new owner at www.drno-effects.com
You can follow more news about SORCIÈRE Totem on Dr. No’s construction diary on Instagram. This is a private page, but if you are interested in the build process you can see it in more detail here.
